19

Kind of lumping weeks 18 and 19 together due to my failure to get a picture last week! Someone referred to me as "5 months pregnant" and that was pretty weird to hear.  My belly button is verging on an outie these days.  I've started using a rubberband to hold the button on my jeans together.  Workouts are taking me longer and longer to finish, but I'm finishing so can't complain.  I talked to two girls at the gym who just had babies after doing Crossfit the entire time who said working out during the pregnancy made life so much easier so that was great motivation to keep the ball rolling.  My skin looks and feels like hell, maybe from all the candy I've been eating?
I noticed a lack of energy last week, however I don't think it's pregancy-related, I'm afraid it's just plain laziness-related! I had a few days off school and work and so without having something to do and somewhere to be I just gave in to the laziness and I don't feel very good about it.  Next week school is starting back up so I will have clinicals to fill up my time and keep my away from this...

...our BEAUTIFUL new king-size bed! It's amazing how 2 extra feet can make such a difference, no more waking up to elbows in the face or knees to the ribs...halleluja! I'm also hoping that being at the hospital will  help me stay away from these...

Candy of all shapes and sizes (the sweet tooth has returned with avengence) and Costcos cream cheese danishes (that I wisely did not buy, just took a picture of and ran away).  We had a few rainy days this week so before going to work Devin was able to start and finish (because Devin will not rest until his project is completed) some projects..more to come on that...

This is what the nursery looked like last week.  It was a graveyard of past decorations that need a new home.  I was able to clear out most of them so now there is room for all the baby stuff.  I have yet to buy any decorations/fun impractical items for the nursery as I have been thoroughly overwhelmed by all the choices that Etsy, Pinterest, and the internet has to offer for a baby room.  Anyone want to come decorate my nursery for me?

As I mentioned before, school is starting this week and it's my last semester so I gotta kick things into high gear and good at this whole scanning thing before the baby arrives!

17 Weeks

This week was a very special one for us because we got to take out long-awaited anniversary/baby shopping trip to Salt Lake and Park City! The thing that I was most excited for was to get out of the 107 degree weather, I mean I know I complain about the heat EVERY year, but I swear it gets a little worse EVERY year.  Here I am at 17 weeks, this was the first week I got comments on "showing" and lots of tummy rubs which are kinda fun and sweet...

Our shopping ventures were very successful. I was very proud of Devin for being such a trooper.  Like a lot of men he hates shopping but I could tell he was having fun at all the baby stores.  We we went to a store called Buy-Buy-Baby and we were in HEAVEN! It's like Bed Bath and Beyond, baby style. Everything was so organized, prices were comparable to BabeRUs and I swear every employee in there had a PhD in Early Child Development!  I hope we are able to make it back up to that store soon. We also made a stop at Ikea, and I have to say we were very disappointed. I think I had hyped Ikea up in my head so much that when I got there I was let down, or perhaps just overwhelmed by the selection... one purchase we did make at Ikea were these bullys: one for Otto and one for the baby...

The next day we drove up the mountain to Park City.  We did some shopping(Devin participated this time as well) at the Outlets in Kimball Junction afterwhich we went to Historic Main Street where we spent most of our day eating and browsing through the shops.  The most enjoyable part about the trip was being able to be outside without suffering from heat exhaustion! While we were there we had some reminders that made us miss our little buddy...

We got to experience a couple of firsts on this trip...For dinner I got a had my very own live Main lobster, and it was everything that I had hoped and dreamed it would be! That lobster definitely makes you earn your meal with all of the cracking and digging for meat, but that was all fun and part of experience.  Devin tried a piece and said it tasted like cheese...

We took a chairlift ride to the top of the mountain and got to see the entire Park City valley.  The cool temperatures and clean air made us both miss being in the mountains, and made me really not want to come home to the desert heat.

Another first was paddleboarding (SUP-stand up paddleing)! I have wanted to go ever since our honeymoon in Hawaii and while in PC we saw lots of advertisements for SUP so off we went to Jordanelle reservoir to give it a whirl.  The weather was PERFECT and the water was PERFECT and I just wish we could've stayed all day! Towards the end of our session Devin started goofing off and trying to head stand on his board, so I joined him (babies like being up-side-down right?).  It was so fun that I am determined to buy some boards and become a SUP family!

Well done Dev because I dare say this was the best anniversary to date.  We got to do a lot of unexpected, really fun things and it was great to just be with each other.  Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end so we traveled back south, picked up our little buddy at my parents house on the way, got home, and crashed!

Sweet 16th

This week we have spent our evenings at home watching the Olympics. While we watch the games we have been fantasizing about what sport our little one will win their first Gold medal in.  If the baby gets Devin's height we are a shoe in for volleyball and swimming.  Another option,  if we start training early enough we could stunt their growth and mold him/her into a gold medal gymnast....

We also made our first trip to the MotherLand, Babies-R-Us, armed with 20% OFF coupons and my BFF and seasoned mother Karly, and we snagged ourselves a stroller, carseat(ORANGE carseat!) and TWO car adapters (not on purpose, we didn't realize our carseat actually came with a car adapter until we opened it at home, still debating if we should keep it or return it).  I wanted to practice using the carseat buckles so Otto volunteered to be the guinea pig.  He immediately regretted that decision...

I am gravitating towards these colors for the nursery, very gender neutral, but can easily be turned one way or another depending on what the little one turns out to be...

We have yet to come to any sort of agreement on names.  I have vetoed most of Devin's boy names: Thor, Rambo, Wolfgang, Tank, and Beowolf, for obvious reasons.  But oddly enough after going watching a movie last week we came across a boy name we both like.  When it comes to girl names I am sensing another theme with Devin's choices, Michaela (Megan Fox in Transformers) and Sam (Jessica Alba in Into the Blue), he of course denies that is where he came up with the names.  Luckily we stumbled upon a girl name while watching the Olympics last week that we both really like. It is way to early in the game to make any decisions but it's good to know that compromise is possible!

On top is a baby name book my mom bought us a few weeks ago and below is the book my parents used to pick names for my sister and I.  It was really neat to see their name-choosing process kinda drawn out within the pages of the book and I definitely will keep it as a sentimental family heirloom.
Sidenote: The reason for the name of this post is that after having lost it for 14 weeks, my sweet tooth is slowly creeping its way back into my life...not good
